Bemerton Heath 4 Yate Town 0
Green 8, Jaffa 10, 23, Britton 17
Yate manager Darren Mullings experienced an afternoon which he hopes won’t be repeated again. With Ryan Hillier and Brandon Oduyoye unavailable then captain Lewis Hall injured in the warm up and with only 4 players on the bench it was not the start that any manager would have wanted. Making their debuts for Yate Town were young loanees Callum Hutton from Bristol City and Will Larvin from Bristol Rovers.
The Bluebells got off to a nightmare start conceding after just only 8 minutes when a mistake at the back allowed Stuart Green to put the home side in front. It got worse just two minutes later following a George Britton cross from the left and Lamin Jaffa’s firm header ended up in the net.
Yate did respond with Dan Dempsey firing just over from 20 yards but on 17 minutes George Britton’s left foot shot from just inside the area found the bottom corner of Aaron Sainsbury’s goal. Bemerton’s Jaffa added a fourth on 23 minutes and the game as a contest was now over.
Callum Hutton did find the back of the net with a good finish but his effort was ruled out for offside and Lewis Hall shot straight at the home goalkeeper as Yate did exert a bit of pressure.
The second half saw Yate dominate possession but without every threatening to score and the game fizzled out.
To add to Darren Mulling’s woes late in the game both Lewis Hall (with cramp) and Sam Pashen with an injury had to be replaced by Will Sage and Dylan Lewis (for just 10 seconds before the final whistle blew) both who were carrying knocks.
