Bideford 1-1 Yate Town – Match Report

Milo equalises for Yate

Match Report

Bideford AFC 1 Yate Town 1

Hill 44 Murgatroyd 75

With another game in doubt prior to match day, an early morning pitch inspection in Devon following more heavy rain during the week thankfully allowed the game to go ahead and the Bluebells travelled to in-form Bideford AFC on Saturday.

With Ewan McMillan restored to the heart of the defence in place of Kyle Anderson and with the returning injured players Lewis Hall, Dan Dempsey and James Bryne in the side plus new signing Milo Murgatroyd on the bench it was a much-changed side from the team that lost at home to Evesham United two weeks ago. Joe Hall was unavailable due to a one match suspension.

Yate started brightly with Oli Jenkins fouled on the edge of the area after 5 minutes but nothing came of the free kick. Both goalkeepers were then brought into action with Aaron Sainsbury saving from Ryan Turner and Oli Jenkins being denied by Bideford’s Adam Seedhouse.

As an even first half was drawing to a close Bideford’s Ryan Turner fired across the face of the Yate goal and there was Lewis Hill put the hosts in front after 44 minutes.

The second half, like he first half, was an even affair but the introduction of Yate substitute Milo Murgatroyd added impetus to the Yate front line and with 15 minutes remaining Yate Town got the equaliser that they deserved when Murgatroyd fired home to gain Yate a point.

This was a strong all-round performance from Yate Town, in a game of few chances, that bodes well for the future as manager Darren Mullings develops his squad in a league that has shown so far that a run of a few good results can shoot you up the table.
