Cinderford Town v Yate Town

Southern League Division One South

1st October- Kick-off 7.45pm

Yate Town travel to the Forest of Dean to play Cinderford Town, who gained promotion to the Southern League via the Hellenic League play-offs at the end of last season.

Yate Town sit on top of the table but have found goals difficult to come by and have relied on their strong defence, conceding just 5 goals in their first seven league games but have only scored eight times. Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, who brought in 3 new players, including Ollie Dewsbury and Jerry Lawrence on loan from Bristol Rovers, before last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Willand Rovers, will be hoping that some of the injured players in his squad might be available for this game.

Form Guide:

Cinderford Town, who lost their first 6 league games, finally put some points on the board by winning 2-1 at Westbury on Saturday. After going one nil down they scored goals through Adam Davies in first half stoppage time and the winner from John Keeping in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Previous meetings:

That season in the league the teams drew 1-1 at Lodge Road in September with Dave Sims-Burgess scoring for Yate and in the return fixture it was Cinderford who triumphed 5-1 on 20th April with Ross Langworthy scoring Yate’s solitary goal, only a short time before the play-off final.

The teams met fairly regularly in recent years before then.
