The Bluebells travel to Surrey for their first ever visit to Farnham Town, who have had back-to-back promotions and are certainly finding their feet at this level and are looking for their third successive promotion. With both sides having gained promotion last season, the Bluebells are on their best run of the season, being undefeated in five.
Form Guide
Season 2023/24 saw Farnham promoted from the Combined Counties Premier Division South into Step 4 for the first time in their history, setting a British football record of 25 consecutive wins to start a league season en route to an invincible league campaign, while also embarking on club-record runs in the FA Cup and FA Vase. Last season, despite entering unchartered territory at Step 4 level, the Club continued to build their momentum to cruise to the title in the Isthmian South-Central Division, winning the league by 20 points and eclipsing 100 points in back-to-back campaigns – earning promotion to Step 3 and the Southern League Premier South, playing in Step 3 for the first time in their history.
They currently sit in 3rd place in the table, having only lost two of their 16 league games, having drawn five and won nine; scoring 36 goals and conceding 22 times.
On Tuesday evening, at Gloucester, they won 2-1 with two quick fire first half goals from Owen Dean and Brandon Mason. Last Saturday they won 3-1 at Uxbridge. Other results this month have seen a 2-1 home win against Poole Town, a 2-1 win at Evesham and a 4-1 win at Basingstoke.
Their only two league defeats were around the time that they were involved in their FA Cup games against Sutton United (see below) which saw consecutive home losses against Walton & Hersham (1-2) and Weymouth (2-3).
In the FA Cup Farnham were knocked out in a replay by National League side Sutton United in the Fourth Qualifying Round. After drawing 3-3 at home, they lost 2-3 after extra time. In the FA Trophy they were knocked out a couple of weeks ago by National League South side Horsham.
One to watch out for is the vastly experienced Bobby-Jo Taylor (30), who joined the club in the summer from Dorking, and they have been busy making 3 signings this month with Michael Eacott, a goalkeeper, joining from Bracknell, midfield player Beaux Booth from Sholing FC and centre back Dan Bayliss from Chesham United.
