The Bluebells travel to Gloucester City for this Friday evening game, following their match at Farnham Town being postponed last Saturday. The Bluebells will be looking to continue their recent impressive form against a side that was playing National League North football not so long ago and are looking to return to Step 2 after losing in the play-off final last season. Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, is a former Gloucester City player, as is coach Will Morford and Yate Town defender Dan Ball.

Form Guide

The Tigers currently sit in 2nd place in the table, only losing three of their 19 league games, having drawn 4 and won 12; scoring 44 goals and conceding 26 times. Their last home game saw them lose 1-2 to Farnham Town on Tuesday 25th November, this being their first home league defeat of the season and they have won seven of their eight previous home games. In the game against Farnham, they were 2-0 down at half-time before scoring early in the second half. Berkhamsted manged to draw 3-3 at Gloucester in late October, the only other team to take points at the KMM Energy Stadium.

Last Saturday Gloucester City travelled to Wimborne Town where they drew 2-2, after coming back from being 2-0 down at half time, with second half goals from Ellis Watts and a stoppage time penalty from Harry Pinchard.

Their recent results, before these two games, have seen them beat Chertsey 2-0 at home, win 2-0 at Basingstoke, beat Havant & Waterlooville 3-2 at home but they lost 3-4 at Uxbridge at the start of November, with former Bluebell King Baidoo (pictured below) on the scoresheet, Baidoo also scoring in the win against Havant. Recent signing from Taunton Town, Kane Simpson, has also been scoring regularly for the Tigers, and the former Frome Town striker, scored against the Bluebells for Taunton back in August during their 2-1 win in Somerset.

In November, in the FA Trophy Second Round, Gloucester City won on penalties at National League South side, Slough Town, after the game ended 1-1 at full time and are due to face Worthing in the Third Round.

Recent meetings

A game that many fans may remember is when the clubs met in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup in October 2013 and after drawing 2-2 at Lodge Road, the Tigers won the replay 7-0.
