Melksham Town v Yate Town
Southern League Division One South
Saturday 30th November Kick-off 3.00pm
Yate Town travel to Melksham, the teams having already played each other in the FA Trophy earlier this season, with Yate winning the home tie 3-0, and Saturday’s game will provide another stiff test for the Bluebells against a side who have been in good form, similar to last Saturday’s opposition in Evesham United, who the Bluebells beat 1-0 at the South West Interiors Stadium.
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, welcomes back Will Larvin, who served a one match suspension last Saturday and will be hoping that Lucas Tomlinson will be available following a recent injury.
Form Guide:
Melksham sit in 6th place in the league, having only lost just 3 times in the league this season, winning 7 of their 14 fixtures, scoring 31 goals and conceding 17. They are well supported and a crowd of 529 were at their last home game against Thatcham that they won 4-0 with 4 different players scoring their goals – Sam Hendy, Jacob Brown, Ralph Graham and Jack Andrews. In their previous game they drew 2-2 at fast improving Bemerton. Last Saturday’s game at Falmouth was called off due to the bad weather. One of their only three league loses this season was at the beginning of November when Evesham beat then 1-0 at Melksham and then on Wednesday evening, they came unstuck at Larkhall Athletic, with Sam Hendy scoring their goal in a 1-2 reversal.
Previous meetings:
Last season the Bluebells achieved the double over Melksham winning 3-0 at Melksham on 14th October with Dylan Lewis, Callum Hutton (his goal pictured below), and a thunderbolt form dan Dempsey. The return fixture in February saw Yate win 4-1 goals from Nick McCootie and Calum English-Brown putting the Bluebells in front before Ralph Graham pulled a goal back before half-time. Second half goals from Finley Bell and Oli Jenkins rounded off the scoring.
And as stated above the two teams met in the FA Trophy at the beginning of last month and it was goals from Lucas Tomlinson, Ross Stearn’s first goal for the club, also pictured below, and Oli Jenkins that saw Yate through to the next round.
