The Bluebells travel to Plymouth Parkway on Saturday for a vital Southern League fixture in their efforts to escape relegation, following on from the 1-1 draw at home to Wimborne Town last Saturday.

Form guide

Plymouth Parkway currently sit in 21st position in the table, having lost 17 of their 32 league games, drawn 6 and won 9; scoring 40 goals and conceding 65 times and are just two points behind the Bluebells with a game in hand, in a very congested area in the lower reaches of the table.

Following on from their game at Taunton Town last Saturday when two second half goals condemned Plymouth Parkway to another defeat, their midweek game at home to Wimborne Town saw Plymouth Parkway gain an important win. Wimborne took a half time lead but three goals in a 15-minute spell in the second half proved decisive, despite Wimborne pulling a goal back on stoppage time.

Their previous 9 games have seen just two wins, at Bracknell (2-0), on 31st January and the following Saturday with a 2-0 win at home to Berkhamsted. The other 7 games have all ended in defeat, the worst being at Poole Town when they conceded seven goals without reply. Home defeats have occurred against Hungerford Town (1-2) just under two weeks ago, Walton &Hersham (0-4) and Gosport (1-2) whilst on the road losses occurred at Hanwell (2-3), Sholing (2-4) and Uxbridge (1-2) as well as the defeat at Poole.

Recent meetings

The teams met back on 27th September, when a late goal from Oli Jenkins earned the Bluebells all three points to secure their second win of the season. A Marlon Jackson penalty had given the Bluebells a half-time lead but Plymouth Parkway equalised early in the second half through Cruis Nyadzayo before Oli Jankins’ late winner.

Action from the game played last September.

Before this season’s game back in September, Yate Town and Plymouth Parkway have only met twice before, in season 2022/23, with the Bluebells winning for only the second time in the season with a 4-0 victory, with goals from Mitchell, Lambert 2 and Tumulty, at the South West Interiors Stadium, on 11th October 2022. In the return fixture in Devon, Plymouth Parkway won 2-1 on 25th February, with Darren Mullings scoring for the Bluebells. At the end of the season Yate Town were relegated whilst Plymouth Parkway finished in 10th position in the Southern League Premier Division South.
