Yate Town are back on their travels as they make the journey down to Dorset as they face Poole Town, looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
The Bluebells have gone their first four games unbeaten, picking up two wins along the way, with those wins coming against, Gosport Borough on the opening day (1-0) and last time out against Bracknell Town as Marcus Day scored a first-half brace in a 2-1 win.
THE OPPOSITION
Poole have had a mixed start to the season, having picked up two wins and two losses form their opening four games. Their two wins came away at Chichester City on the opening day (2-1) and last time out as they beat Berkhamsted 3-2 away from home, as Ik Hill notched himself a brace with his second coming in second half added time and either side of Sam Faniyan’s first goal of the season.
The Dolphins made seven additions to their squad over the summer, as they signed, Bradley Tarbuck and Joe Oastler from Gosport Borough, Ezio Touray from Chippenham Town, Jack Dickson from Dorchester Town, Sam Jackson from Wimborne Town, Brandon Goodship from Weymouth and the returning Samuel Faniyan after joining Walton & Hersham late on last season, following 31 appearances for Poole that same season.
Last season, Poole made the play-offs finishing in fourth place during the regular season. In the play-off semi-final they faced the trip to Gloucester City, where they would ultimately taste defeat in extra-time as Michael O’Regan scored in the 111th minute of the game, with it finishing 3-2.
RECENT MEETINGS
The two sides met twice last season with those both coming during the league season. Both of the games finished 2-2. The fixture at the Tatnam Stadium saw today’s hosts take the lead just after the half hour mark, through Selim Saied, before Josh Bennett got the Bluebells back on level terms just 10 minutes into the second half. Yate would then take the lead 15 minutes from time through Marlon Jackson, but it wouldn’t finish that was as Shaq Gwengwe would score in added time to deny the Bluebells all three points.
Yate’s last win against Poole came in April 2022, as Ricardo Rees and Olly Mehew scored the goals that afternoon, helping the Bluebells to a 2-0 away win.
