Shaftesbury Town v Yate Town
Southern League Division One South
Tuesday 10th December Kick-off 7.45pm
Yate Town travel to Shaftesbury Town on Tuesday evening for what is believed to be the first time that the clubs have played each other. This is Shaftesbury’s first season at Step 4, having gained promotion from the Wessex League, via the play-offs, at the end of last season. This game was originally scheduled for Saturday 16th November but Yate Town were still involved in the FA Trophy and played Hampton & Richmond on this date.
With all but one game called off in the Southern League Division One South on Saturday (Bashley v Malvern) due to Storm Darragh and the red weather warning due to high winds, even with a 3G pitch, that Shaftesbury play on, the elements can still defeat clubs and, as for most clubs in the South West, it was the traveling issues that caused most problems and Shaftesbury’s home game against Mousehole had to be called off.
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, will be hoping that his team can bounce back from the surprise home defeat last Tuesday evening against Cribbs and the team can get back to winning ways in what will be another tough encounter as clubs seem to up their performances when it comes to playing a team at the top of the table.
Form Guide:
Shaftesbury sit in 18th position in the table, just outside the relegation places on goal difference from Falmouth, with both teams on 18 points. Shaftesbury have played 17 games, winning 5, drawing 3 and losing 9, whilst scoring 21 goals and conceding 27.
Their form in November has seen two wins and two loses. Following a 0-2 defeat at Exmouth at the start of the month the Rockies then travelled to Didcot where they won 5-3 with goals from Cameron Beard (2) Ben Slattery and Remus Nixon plus an own goal.
This was followed by a 0-3 reversal at home to Bristol Manor Farm but at the end of the month they travelled to Westbury where they won 2-0 with Toby Basley and Remus Nixon getting their goals.
