Taunton Town v Yate Town
Southern League Premier Division South
Wednesday 13th August 2025 - Kick-off 7.45pm
Yate Town make one of their shorter journeys of the season with their away opener at Taunton Town following on from the first league fixture of the season, at home to Sholing FC, when the Bluebells, with six players making their debut, shared the points, with a disciplined performance.
Both Lloyd James and Dan Ball have played for Taunton Town, as has the injured Dave Sims-Burgess.
Taunton are managed by former Cribbs manager Richard Luffman who took charge in the summer of 2024.
Form Guide
On Saturday the Peacocks were at Havant & Waterlooville for their opening League fixture where they won 3-2, scoring via an own goal and one from Ben Seymour, with another from Kane Simpson the former Frome Town and Merthyr Town striker.
Last season they finished in 9th position in the Southern League Premier Division South, following their relegation from the National League South at the end of season 20223/24, after spending two seasons at Step 2.
Previous meetings
The clubs have played each other many times but the last time Yate Town played at Taunton was back in April 2022 when the Peacocks won 2-1 with Joe Guest and Ross Staley scoring their goals and James Harding pulling a goal back for Yate Town. The attendance that evening was 1068. Taunton ended the season as Southern League Premier Division South champions.
