Match Preview
Thatcham Town v Yate Town
Southern League Division One South
Saturday 15th February 2025 - Kick-off 3.00pm
Yate Town travel to Thatcham Town with a seven-point lead at the top of the table with Evesham United now in second place and two points behind them are Exmouth Town – with these three teams having 13 games to go before the end of the season.
Following on from the excellent win against Falmouth Town last Saturday, ending the Cornish side’s 6-game winning sequence, Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, will be hoping that without a mid-week game that some of the players on his injured list will be available for selection on Saturday but will be boosted by having recent signing, Jamie Adams available, following his arrival from Bristol Manor Farm this week.
Form Guide
Thatcham Town currently sit in 20th position in the league table, having won just 6 of their 27 league games and their form has been varied in the last couple of months. An excellent 3-0 home win against Malvern Town on 21st December with goals from Zion Nditi, Sam Turner and Pharrel Agbetog followed by a 0-0 draw at home to Dicot on Boxing Day seemed to show an upturn in fortunes but four successive defeats for the Kingfishers, started with a 1-2 loss at Shaftesbury with the ever-dangerous Harvey Flippance scoring their goal. This was followed by a 0-2 reversal at Mousehole then a crushing 0-6 defeat at home to Falmouth Town. An improved performance, however, resulted in a 1-2 loss at high flying Evesham but more points were then put on the board with a 1-0 home win against Larkhall Athletic and an excellent 2-2 draw at Bristol Manor Farm last Saturday. On Tuesday evening Thatcham drew 1-1 at Bashley and having conceded in the first minute of stoppage time drew level in the 95th minute when Christian Johnson scored for the visitors, making it three games unbeaten.
Zion Nditi has recently returned to Aldershot after his loan period ended.
