Match Preview
Yate Town v Bideford AFC
Southern League Division One South
Tuesday 4th February 2025 – kick-off 7.45pm
Be there to support YOUR local club.
Yate Town return to the South West Interiors Stadium to play Bideford AFC – the only team that they have not so far played in a Southern League match this season – however the two teams did meet in an FA Trophy tie back in September.
Following on from their excellent 4-1 win at Cribbs on Friday evening, the Bluebells will be looking for another three points, this game having ordinally been scheduled for Saturday 7th December, but the game had to be postponed due to the very wet weather at that time caused by Storm Darragh.
Despite a number of substitutions in the later stages of the game on Friday, manager Darren Mullings, will be hoping that most of his squad will be available on Tuesday evening.
Form Guide:
Bideford currently sit in 16th position in the league table having won 9 of their 27 League games this season, with 8 draws and 10 defeats, having gained 33 points, scoring 31 goals and conceding 39.
Having won their last 2 games in 2024, 1-0 at home to Willand on Boxing Day and then 2 days later a fine 2-1 at Exmouth, Bideford then drew 0-0 at home to Bristol Manor Farm but the weather has not been kind to them and they have had 2 postponements in mid-January, games at Evesham and Thatcham. They did manage a 1-0 home win against Helston on 18th January but then lost 1-2 at home to inform Falmouth a week later. Last Saturday Bideford drew 1-1 at Melksham having taken a first minute lead in this game.
Previous meetings:
Yate Town and Bideford have already met this season in the FA Trophy back in September when the Bluebells won 2-0 at The South West Interiors Stadium, win with second half goals from substitutes and Oli Jenkins and Wayne Nderemani. The crowd was 262.

Action from the FA Trophy game back in September with Marlon Jackson just unable to convert this chance in the first half, with the rain coming down.
Last season the teams met on 18th November for the first time in a League fixture down in Devon when Lewis Hill scored just before half-time for the home side only for Milo Murgatroyd to come off the
bench and equalise for Yate Town, this being the only goal that Murgatroyd scored for the club. The crowd was 280.
In the return game played on 24th February Yate Town won 1-0 when Bideford defender, Tyler Yendle, scored an own goal after just 11 minutes. The crowd was 259.
The previous meetings before this were in season 2018/19 when Yate won 2-0 at home with goals from Peare and Langworthy but Bideford won their home game 3-1 with Warwick scoring Yate’s goal.
