Yate Town v Bristol Manor Farm
Southern League Division One South
Thursday 26th December 2024 – kick-off 3.00pm
Be there to support YOUR local club.
Yate Town will be hoping for one, if not, the biggest crowd of the season, when they entertain local rivals Bristol Manor Farm on Boxing Day, in what looks like an intriguing encounter.
The Bluebells were in good form last Saturday, when in an entertaining game, they beat Helston Athletic, 2-0 at the South West Interiors Stadium with two gaols from Ross Stearn, and Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, will be looking to select from a full squad for this game, over the busy Christmas period.
Form Guide:
Bristol Manor Farm, who alongside Helston are the equal second highest goal scorers in the division, with 40 goals scored from 19 games (only Bemerton and Malvern have scored more – both 41 goals from 20 games) and have the divisions leading goal scorer in Louis Britton, with 16 league goals to his name. The ex-Bristol City player, who spent some time at Yate Town earlier in his career, has also played for Bath City, Stockport County and Yeovil and returned to the West Country in the summer after spending time at Maldon & Tiptree.
Bristol Manor Farm drew 1-1 at Larkhall Athletic last Saturday and secured a point with a stoppage time goal from George Dowling. Prior to that they drew 1-1 at home to Didcot and a late goal from Jacob Spence secured a 1-0 home win against second placed Exmouth Town. A 3-0 win at Shaftesbury, a 0-2 loss at home to Bishops Cleeve and a 2-0 win at home to Bashley has secured 11 points from the last 6 games, with 3 wins, 2 draws and just one loss.
Bristol Manor Farm currently occupy 9th position in the league table having won 8 of their 19 league games, drawn 6 and lost 5. In that time, they have, as stated, scored 40 goals, whilst conceding 28 goals, and have been involved in one 5-5 draw, against Helston Athletic, on 12th October, at The Creek, and another game, just 3 days later, that saw 9 goals with Bristol Manot Farm losing 4-5 at Malvern, with Louis Britton scoring all their four goals.
Previous meetings:
Yate Town and Bristol Manor Farm met each other in the League last season with both games ending in a 1-1 draw. The first took place on August Bank Holiday Monday, at The Creek, and after the hosts had taken an early lead, Dyan Lewis was fouled in the penalty area just before half-time and Geoge Box stepped up to take the penalty to level the scores. The crowd was 371.
On 1st January the clubs played the game in wet conditions and when substitute Jack Ball (pictured below) put Yate in front after 83 minutes it looked like the Bluebells would secure a much-needed win but two minutes later Daniel Dodimead scored for Bristol Manor Farm and the points were shared again with a crowd of 343 watching.

The previous meetings before this were in season 2017/18 when Bristol Manor Farm won 3-1 at Lodge Road with Davies scoring Yate Town’s only goal and crowd of 169 watched the game. Later in the season the two teams drew 1-1 at The Creek with Tanner scoring for Yate. The crowd was 228.
The following season Yate Town won both games, winning 4-2 at The Creek in November with Adam Price, Ollie Mehew and Ben Books scoring twice and in the return game in February saw goals from Lewis L-Gilchrist (2) and Mike Bryant secured a 3-2 win in front of a crowd of 333.
