Yate Town v Cribbs FC
Southern League Division One South
Tuesday 3rd December 2024 – kick-off 7.45pm
Be there to support YOUR local club.
Yate Town entertain local rivals Cribbs FC on Tuesday evening hoping to continue their good form and extend their lead at the top of the table. This game was ordinally scheduled for Saturday 26th October and with both clubs agreeing that the game could be played on the Friday evening - but due to the Bluebells good run in the FA Trophy, they played Hungerford away instead, and the game had to be rearranged.
Following on from Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Melksham this busy period of fixtures continues with a host of Tuesday night games recently. Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, was pleased to give Lucas Tomlinson a few minutes at Melksham following the forward being out for a couple of games and will be hoping that no serious knocks are reported after Saturday’s game.
Form Guide:
After finishing third in the table last season and losing to Bristol Manor Farm in the play-offs, in their inaugural season at Step 4 following their promotion from the Hellenic League, Cribbs have not been able to replicate the same form this season following the departure of Richard Luffman in April, but Ryan Crouch is now at the helm and looking to guide the club up the table.
Cribbs currently sit in 20th position in the table with 4 wins, 2 draws and 9 defeats from their 15 league games played, having scored 13 goals and conceded 28. Last Saturday they lost 1-5 at Malvern with David Duru scoring their goal, Duru having returned to the club following a spell at Taunton Town earlier in the season. Their last win was at the end of October when they won 2-1 at Bideford and recent games has seen them lose at home to Larkhall and draw with Falmouth, also at home.
Previous meetings:
Last season the teams met for the first time in the league with Cribbs winning 2-1 at The Lawns on 16th December. David Duru opened the scoring after 21 minutes and Bailey Croome added a second after 51 minutes. Bristol City loanee, Callum Hutton, pulled a goal back for Yate five minutes from time but Yate couldn’t create another chance. The game was played in front of a crowd of 177 spectators.
In the return game, played at the South West Interiors Stadium on 20th April, this being the penultimate game of the season and Cribbs were at this point guaranteed a place off place. The game was full of incident, particularly the closing minutes, with Yate leading 3-1 only for Cribbs to score two goals right at the death. In front of a season’s best crowd of 528, Calum English-Brown put Yate ahead in the 14th minute only for David Duru to draw the sides level 10 minutes later. Nick McCootie put the Bluebells in front on the stoke of half time with a powerful run and shot and increased the lead further with a delicate lob from outside the area in the 89th minute to seemingly secure all three points for Yate. However, as the clock ticked into stoppage time Bailey Croome rose unchallenged in the area to pull a goal back for the visitors and shortly afterwards, following a corner from the left, Nick McCootie put the ball into his own net to give the visitors an unlikely point.

Nick McCootie scoring Yate town’s third to put Yate 3-1 up …. but a lot more happened after that!
