Yate Town v Evesham United
Southern League Division One South
Saturday 23rd November 2024 – kick-off 3.00pm
Be there to support YOUR local club.
Yate Town return to League action following their FA Trophy exploits this season, with a fixture against a fast-improving Evesham United side. Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, has had the bonus of having no midweek match since the Hampton game last Saturday and apart from the injured Ewan McMillan will have a fit squad to choose from, in what will be a challenging period up until the New Year with most fixtures against clubs in the upper reaches of the league table.
Form Guide:
Evesham United currently sit in 4th place in the table having won 8 of their 16 league games, amassing a total of 27 points whilst scoring 20 goals and conceding 19. Last Saturday they had an excellent 3-2 win at home to Heston Athletic with ex-Yate defender Toby Raison scoring their first goal and Regan Messenger getting the other two. The previous week Raison was also on the scoresheet in a 1-1 draw at Larkhall. Evesham also beat in form Melksham at the beginning of the month with Joshua Barlow getting the only goal of the game to inflict only the second defeat of the season on the Wiltshire side. Prior to that Evesham lost to Malvern Town (0-2), Willand Rovers (0-4) and Thatcham Town (0-1), so have now just started to hit some good form recently.

Toby Raison, who made 5 appearances for Yate Town last season during January and February and had previously played for Yate in season 2022/23 in the Southern League Premier Division South.
Previous meetings:
Last season the teams met on 4th November and after taking an early lead in the 32nd minute through Callum Hutton, the young forward on loan from Bristol City, the visitors equalised three minutes later through Will Owen. With the game looking very even things changed dramatically after 70 minutes when Owen scored again for Evesham who then added another three goals through Fred Willcox, Amer Awadh and Ethan Morgan to end up winning comfortably, 5-1, in front of 274.
The return fixture was played on 10th February with the game ending in a 1-1 draw after Oli Jenkins had scored in the 71st minute firing home following a corner, Evesham equalised just seven minutes later with a goal from Ethan Moran who curled in a shot from 20 yards to level the scores. The crowd was 288.
In Yate Town promotion season of 2018/19, the Bluebells got the double over Evesham winning 2-1 in Worcestershire and 3-2 at Lodge Road.
