THIS WILL BE A SEGRATED MATCH

Be there to support YOUR local club.

An impressive run of recent form has given Yate Town the opportunity, with two games left this season, to retain their Step 3 status, but they will be up against free scoring and second placed Gloucester City on Saturday, who have guaranteed a play-off spot already, and with home advantage. Meanwhile, Yate Town are amongst a host of clubs in danger of filling the last two relegation places, needing to keep ahead of those below them.

Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, has played for both clubs and Bluebells coach, Will Morford, also spent a number of seasons at Gloucester City.

Form Guide

The Tigers currently sit in 2nd place in the table, only losing nine of their 40 league games, having drawn 7 and won 24; scoring an impressive 91 goals and conceding 49 times. In their last 12 games Gloucester City have won 8, drawn one and lost 3. Last Saturday they won 5-0 at Dorchester and in this sequence of games also scored five at home to Wimborne and 6 at Tiverton, both without reply. There was a surprise defeat at home to Taunton Town on Easter Monday and the other 2 losses were 0-1 at Berkhamsted and Uxbridge won 3-2 at Gloucester. The drawn game was at Chertsey on 14th February (2-2), but wins at home to Weymouth (3-1), at Poole Town (2-1), at home to Bracknell (1-0) and Plymouth Parkway (3-0) have ensured that their form has been good for much of this time and they come into Saturday’s game having won four of their last five games.

Previous meetings

The clubs have previously met only 7 times before in the Southern League in the past, but many fans may remember when the clubs met in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup in October 2013 and after drawing 2-2 at Lodge Road, the Tigers won the replay 7-0. The last meeting was earlier this season, on Friday 5th December, when the Tigers beat the Bluebells 1-0 with a goal from former Yate Town player King Baidoo, in front of a crowd of 1907.
