Match Preview: Yate Town v Helston Athletic

Yate Town v Helston Athletic
Southern League Division One South

Saturday 21st December 2024 – kick-off 3.00pm

Be there to support YOUR local club.

Yate Town entertain Helston Athletic for the first time ever at the South West Interiors Stadium and will be looking to return to winning ways after a dip in form this month but still sit 7 points clear at the top of the Southern League Division One South table. Helston are one of three teams from West Cornwall now in this division with Mousehole and Falmouth completing this Cornish trio.

Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, played most of his squad in the County Cup tie at Cinderford and with a busy holiday period coming up, with three games in a week, he will most likely be utilising the whole squad.

Form Guide:

Helston, who gained promotion from the Western League at the end of last season are competing at Step 4 for the first time in their history. They started the season in fine form and were in the play-off places up until recently. They currently sit in 7th position in the league table but their last 6 games have only seen just one win, that being a 2-1 home win against Bishops Cleeve on 9th November. Prior to that they lost 2-3 at Bemerton at the start of November and have subsequently lost at Evesham (2-3) and Mousehole (0-1) and drawn at home with both Bashley (1-1) and Thatcham (2-2) last Saturday.

Their 18 league games have seen them secure 8 wins, 6 draws and just 4 defeats with 40 goals scored and 33 conceded and only Malvern Town have scored more goals this season (41).
