Yate Town v Hungerford Town

Southern League Premier Division South

Tuesday 3rd February – kick-off 7.45pm

Be there to support YOUR local club.

Yate Town entertain Hungerford Town, under the lights, for only their second home game of 2026 – their previous home game being the 2-0 win against Uxbridge. Good away draws at both Poole Town and Berkhamsted last Saturday mean that the Bluebells are three games unbeaten in the league.

Form Guide

Hungerford Town finished in 7th position last season, in the Southern League Premier Division South.

This is now their third season at Step 3 following their relegation from the National League South at the end of 2022/23, having been at that level since 2016.

The Crusaders currently sit in 18th position in the league table, three places below the Bluebells (having also played one game more), with 7 wins, 8 draws and 12 defeats from their 27 games, having scored 35 goals and conceded 52 times.

Last Saturday they beat Gosport Borough 2-0 at home with ex-Yate Town forward Kyle Tooze scoring their first goal. This was a moral boosting result following the 2-7 home reversal in their last game against Farnham Town on January 20th.

In their previous 7 league games, since the start of December, Hungerford have recorded just one win, a 3-1 victory at Hanwell, and have drawn 1-1 at both Bracknell, and more recently, at Wimborne. They lost at both Dorchester (1-2) and also at Gloucester City (1-6) and their other defeat was at home to Berkhamsted when the visitors won 3-0.

Previous meetings

Saturday’s game will be the 15th time that Yate Town and Hungerford Town have played each other; the first time being in season 2009-10 when they were paired in the FA Trophy. That season they started a sequence of 4 seasons when they played each other in league fixtures, plus another FA Trophy pairing.

It was September 2024 before the teams met again, with the Crusaders knocking Yate out of the FA Cup at Bulpit Lane. with a Jacob Bancroft goal. The clubs were again paired in the FA Trophy and 8 weeks later the Bluebells won 3-2 at Bulpit Lane. Ollie Dewsbury put Yate ahead before goals from Louis McGory and Jacob Bancroft put Hungerford in front but late goals from Dewsbury and Ross Stearn meant it was the Bluebells who went through to the next round.

The teams met on August Bank Holiday Monday for their first league meeting for many years and with the game level in stoppage time, after James Taylor had put Yate in front (pictured below), James Ollis (now a Bluebell) equalised for Hungerford but two goals from Conor McDonagh meant the Crusaders bagged all three points.
