Following on from their last two away games, which saw a win at Tiverton and a draw at Weymouth, the Bluebells return to the South West Interiors Stadium with Poole Town making their second trip to South Gloucestershire, having beaten the Bluebells 2-1 last month, in the FA Trophy, in a very close game.

The Bluebells upturn in form coincides with the Dolphins slight dip in form but it’s 18th at home to 3rd and with Yate Town having run league leaders, Walton & Hersham, very close in their last home game it should be another interesting encounter.

Form Guide

After finishing in 14th position last season, in the Southern League Premier Division South, Poole Town currently sit in 3rd position with 27 points having won 8 of their 14 league games played whilst drawing three and losing three and, in the process, scoring 27 goals and conceding 16 times.

Since beating the Bluebells 2-1 in the FA Trophy back on October 4th, the Dolphins won their next three league games, 2-1 at Tiverton, then 6-0 at home to Weymouth followed by a 2-0 at home to Dorchester. Their next game saw them lose 2-3 at Gloucester City and this was followed by going out of the FA Trophy on penalties at Plymouth Parkway. Last Saturday local rivals Gosport Borough inflicted their first home league defeat of the season as the away side won 1-0.

Previous meetings

Prior to last month’s meeting in the FA Trophy, the last times that the teams played each other in a League game was when the Bluebells were last in the Southern League Premier Division South, in the early 2020s for a couple of seasons. In season 2021/22 Yate Town won 2-1 at home with two goals from Luke Hopper and they got the double by winning 2-0 away with goals from Ricardo Rees and Olly Mehew. The tables were turned the following season (2022/23) when the Dolphins did the double, winning their home game 5-0 and 3-2 at the South West Interiors Stadium with Ross Staley and Rex Mannings scoring for Yate Town in front of a crowd of 261.

The Dolphins and the Bluebells have played each other 16 times before (14 in the league, once in the FA Cup and once in the FA Trophy) and these 16 games have seen Yate Town win 8 times, Poole Town winning 7 times and there being just one drawn game. Yate Town have scored 46 goals to the 28 by Poole.
