Yate Town v Shaftesbury

Southern League Division One South

Saturday 1st March 2025 – kick-off 3.00pm

Be there to support YOUR local club.

Yate Town return to the South West Interiors Stadium for the first time in three weeks when Shaftesbury are the visitors, making their first ever visit to Yate. Following their 2-1 win at home to Falmouth Town the Bluebells travelled to Thatcham and came back with all three points with a fine 3-1 win. With the game at Westbury called off due to a waterlogged pitch on Monday evening this will be the first game in a fortnight for the Bluebells, giving their players time to recover from various knocks which will be good news for Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings. If selected to play Lewis Hall will be making his 50th start for the club.

Form Guide:

Shaftesbury's form has been rather varied of late but they have won two of their last three games, all of which have been at home and last Saturday Alefe Santos D’Adadia scored both their goals in a 2-1 win against Didcot Town, the winner coming in stoppage time.

They also beat high flying Exmouth Town 2-1 on 8th February with Luke Burbidge and Cameron Beard scoring their goals and again it was a stoppage time goal that secured the three points. Sandwiched in between these two wins was a 0-2 reversal against Cribbs.

Prior to these games saw a 1-3 loss at Cinderford at the start of February with Burbidge scoring their goal, a 2-5 loss at home to Mousehole and draws (0-0) against Tavistock at home and a 2-2 draw at Bashley, when former Bristol City player, Brett Pitman scored one their goals.

Shaftesbury, in their first season at Step 4, having gained promotion from the Wessex League at the end of last season, currently sit in 15th position in the league table with their recent form having taken them out of the bottom four and into a safer position. They have played 31 games, winning 10 drawing just 5 and losing 16 times. They have accumulated 35 points having scored 39 goals and conceded 60 times.

Previous meetings:

Yate Town’s only previous meeting with the “Rockies” was back in December when they won 4-0 in a Tuesday night game with James Byrne (pictured below) scoring a hat-trick and Will Christopher adding a fourth late in the game.
