Yate Town v Taunton Town

Southern League Premier Division South

Saturday 20th December 2025 – kick-off 3.00pm

Be there to support YOUR local club.

Yate Town entertain Taunton Town on Saturday, looking to get back to winning ways after a couple of disappointing results. The club will be looking for a good crowd, as it is hoped that a decent number of Taunton fans will travel up the M5 to watch the game plus with Bristol Rovers not playing on Saturday.

Form Guide

Taunton Town finished in 9th position last season, in the Southern League Premier Division South, following their relegation from the National League South the previous season, after only 2 seasons at this level.

Taunton currently sit in 18th position in the league table, just one place above the relegation places, with 5 wins, 4 draws and 11 defeats from their 20 games, having scored 29 goals and conceded 37 times, but, with the table so tight, are only 4 points behind the Bluebells, who occupy 14th place.

Taunton have not won in their last 6 games but had an impressive 4-0 win at Hanwell on 1st November. They did draw at home to Dorchester at the end of November but defeats against Gosport, Weymouth, Berkhamsted, Bracknell and then last Saturday at Evesham saw manager Richard Luffman depart after 17 months in charge, with caretaker managers, in player Nick Grimes plus Lloyd Irish, taking over for the time being.

Previous meetings

The game will be the 25th time that Yate Town and Taunton Town have played each other; the first time being in season 2003-04. The last time the teams met was back in August in the second league game of this season, with Taunton winning 2-1. A Jeffrey Forkuo own goal put Taunton in front in the opening minutes before Marlon Jackson equalised soon afterwards (see below). Kane Simpson scored what proved to be winning goal just before half-time.

There are number of former Taunton Town players currently in the Yate Town squad including Lloyd James, Josh Bennett, Dave Sims-Burgess and Joe Guest whilst Chris Zebroski, is now back at Taunton, where he started the season, having had 3 months at Yate before returning to Taunton recently.
