Yate Town v Tiverton Town (pre-season friendly)
Monday 29th July - Kick-off 7.45pm
Yate Town play their final pre-season friendly against Southern League Division Premier South side Tiverton Town. Buoyed by an excellent performance against Westbury United on Friday, when the Bluebells won 3-1 in front of an excellent pre-season attendance of 302, on a beautiful summer’s evening, and the crowd were certainly well entertained. Darren Mullings will be hoping for another good performance, this time against higher level opposition, and a similar sized crowd, with a warm summer’s evening again forecast, before they take on Holyport in the FA Cup next Saturday.
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings will be hoping that Ross Stearn will be fit after taking a knock in the first half against Westbury and coming off the field of play and Ewan McMillan and James Bryne should be available for selection.
The two clubs have played each other many times, but most recently, when Yate Town were in the Southern League Premier Division South. In season 2022/23 Yate lost 2-4 at Tiverton with Allen and an own goal from a Tiverton player on the scoresheet for the Bluebells. The home game saw 369 fans witness a 0-0 draw at Lodge Road. That same season the two clubs met in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with Yate coming out on top 2-1 with Henry and Allen scoring for the Bluebells.
The previous season (2021/22) a Hooper goal at Tiverton gave Yate Town a 1-0 win but it was Tiverton who won the return fixture 2-1, with Harding scoring for Yate.
