Westbury United match preview
Yate Town v Westbury United (pre-season friendly)
Friday 26th July - Kick-off 7.45pm
Yate Town play their fifth and penultimate pre-season friendly against fellow Southern League Division South side Westbury United who they played in the League last September, winning 2-1 at Lodge Road, with the return played on Good Friday with the Bluebells winning this encounter 2-0. Last season Westbury finished in 17th position and will be hoping for a better season this time round.
Action from last season’s game at Lodge Road in September between Yate Town and Westbury with Dylan Lewis in possession and Dan Dempsey looking on.
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, will be looking for his players to find the back of the net and the hopeful return to fitness of Ross Stearn and Marlon Jackson who have been out will injuries during the pre-season. The Bluebells last three games have all ended in 0-1 reversals and each time an early
second half goal has been their undoing but last Friday they more than matched their higher-level opponents at Gloucester City and, but for an unfortunate defensive mistake, would have come away with a well-deserved draw.
Westbury have enjoyed an encouraging pre-season having beaten Wincanton 5-1, a Chippenham Town X1 6-1, Brislington 5-0, followed by a 2-2 draw at Swindon Supermarine and another 2-2 draw, this time at Roman Glass St George. Last Tuesday they played Frome Town at home and suffered their first
pre-season friendly, losing 0-1. Westbury start their season with an away trip to Hamble in the FA Cup and their League campaign with a home fixture to newly promoted Helston Athletic.
Fans will be able to see the new club shop and bar inside the ground and Yate Town season ticket holders can collect their season tickets from the new club shop where there is plenty to see and purchase.
A 4-page programme is available priced 50 pence plus the clubhouse will be open from 6.15pm, food will be available in side the ground and there is plenty of space for parking.
Admission prices are:
