Be there to support YOUR local club.

Yate Town’s 2024/2025 season continues with their first home game in the Southern League following making it two wins out of two on Saturday when, after their FA Cup win against Holyport, the Bluebells got off to an excellent start with their Southern League fixtures by winning 1-0 at Tavistock.

Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, will have midfield player and new signing, Lloyd James available after serving a two-match suspension but Ewan McMillan and Wayne Nderemani are doubtful following knocks but another new signing, Ross Stearn, hopes to be fit in time for Tuesday evening’s game.

With this encouraging start to the season the club are hoping for a sizeable crowd to help create a good atmosphere for the players and fans alike.

Our opponents:

Bishops Cleeve finished last season in 9th place in the League, just one place below Yate Town and in both League games showed what a good side that they are. In a highly entertaining game at Bishops Cleeve last September the two sides drew 2-2 with a late equaliser from Ross Langworthy for the home side. Harrison Reeves had given Bishops Cleeve an early lead but second half goals from substitute Joe O’Loughlin and Sam Pashen put the Bluebells in front before Langworthy’s goal.

The return game in March saw the visitors score an early goal through Jay Malshanskyi and with Nick McCootie having his penalty saved just before half-time by Bishops Cleeve’s goalkeeper, Yate Town could not break down a well organised defence and all three points went to Bishops Cleeve. A crowd of 433 saw this game, which was also Non-League Day.

This season Bishops Cleeve have had a successful pre-season with wins against Slimbridge, Gloucester City and Worcester City and started their season with an away win at Highworth Town in the FA Cup, winning 1-0 with a goal from Evans-Harriott. Next Saturday they play Lydney Town at home in the FA Cup.

Last Saturday, Bishops Cleeve started their Southern League fixtures losing 0-1 at home to Bideford, who scored their winner late on in the game, via a penalty.
