Cinderford won 4-3 on penalties
Gloucestershire FA County Cup Quarter Final
Tuesday 17th December 2024
Yate Town bowed out of the Gloucestershire County Cup on a windswept evening in a game that saw very few chances created.
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, looked to give squad players game time and in midfield captain Joe Guest and Lloyd James and forward Marlon Jackson were not included in the squad with Under 18 player James Fortune on the bench. Defender Ewan McMillan played the first half, his first appearance since his injury at Tavistock in the first League game of the season.
With the game scoreless after 90 minutes the game went to penalties and with Lucas Tomlinson, goalkeeper Aaron Sainsbury and Ross Stearn all finding the back of the net with their Cinderford counterparts doing the same. With the score 3-3 Will Christopher’s effort went over the cross bar and Cinderford then made the score 4-3 in their favour and when Ryan Hillier’s shot was saved the tie was decided in favour of the home team.
Yate Town can now concentrate on their final 22 games in the Southern League as they aim for promotion.
