Corsham Town 2 Yate Town 1
Nathan Goodwin-Worral (44) Braden Humphreys (70) Dempsey (35)
Pre-season friendly Monday 14th July 2025
Yate Town used virtually their whole squad plus 3 trialists for this game, played on a dry pitch on an evening when those attending saw the first rain, in the form of showers, for a long time and some magnificent rainbows.
New signing, Matt Britton, challenging ex Bluebell, Nick McCootie
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, fielded a strong team in the first half, including young Bristol City goalkeeper Jack Witchard, and both sides missed chances but following a corner from the right, taken by Rex Mannings, Dan Dempsey put the Bluebells in front. Yate dominated large spells of play but on the stroke of half-time, following a corner from the left, Corsham’s Nathan Goodwin-Worral equalised.
At half time Yate made 7 outfield changes with only Matt Britton, Dan Dempsey, Dayle Grubb coming out for the second half with Dave Sims-Burgess, Lewis Hall, James Byrne and Ross Staley, plus three trialists making up the team. The play became more even and following another corner Corsham took the lead on 70 minutes when Braden Humphreys scored from close range.
This was a good work out for both sides and the Bluebells now take on Melksham Town at the South West Interiors Stadium for their second pre-season friendly, this coming Saturday 19th July (3pm)
Yate Town (first half): Witchard, Taylor, Nderemani, Dempsey, Ball, Guest, Tomlinson, Britton, Jackson, Grubb, Mannings
