Match Report: Yate Town 0-0 Melksham Town

Yate Town and Melksham Town played out an entraining draw but with defences on top and missed chances by the home side, the game ended goalless but the game was a good work out for both sides as they prepare for the opening League fixtures in three weeks’ time.

Melksham Town included former Bluebells, Will Christopher and Ollie Mehew in their side and despite Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, having three of his summer signing’s unavailable, it did not take long for the home side to assert their authority on the game with some good possession which resulted in Lucas Tomlinson hitting the post and Marlon Jackson having a goal disallowed on the half hour. James Taylor then forced a good save from Melksham goalkeeper Adam Forster.

Above, Lucas Tomlinson’s effort strikes a post and below, Marlon Jackson’s effort is ruled out.

The second half saw Ollie Mehew forcing Jack Whithard into a save in the 49th minute and on the hour both sides started to make changes. Yate Town substitute, Wayne Nderemani’s shot forced Forster to make a wonderful save and the goalkeeper was in action again with another good save from one of the Yate Town trialists.

As Melksham grew into the game, Yate Town goalkeeper Jack Whitchard had to be alert when Ralph Graham tried a snap shot from 30 yards and this effort was turned round the post at full stretch.

Lewis Hall in possession during the second half.

Yate Town now have 2 home games next week with a Bristol City Under 18 side visiting the South West Interiors Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) and Portishead Town also visit on Friday 25th July (7.45pm).
