Match Report
Yate Town 0 Weymouth 2
Robinson (1), Brooks (26)
Saturday 21st March 2026
Southern League Premier Division South
In a game that was held up for an hour, shortly after kick-off, due to an incident in the crowd, Weymouth made it three wins on the bounce whilst scoring ten goals without reply to ease themselves towards safety, whilst Yate Town, who have just picked up just one point from their last eight games, after being in mid-table safety, have it all to do if the are going to avoid the drop.
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, included new signing Olly Mehew in the starting lineup.
Weymouth got off to the perfect start when a cross from Tor Swann found Andy Robinson who powered his head into the net when he rose unchallenged. The long delay followed soon afterwards but when play resumed Charlie Moody and Marlon Jackson both went close for Yate.

Weymouth had a great chance to increase their lead when Tor Swann was set free by Reuben Reid but with only Yate Town goalkeeper Aaron Sainsbury to beat, the Weymouth forward ballooned the ball over the cross bar. But shortly afterwards a corner by Matty Brooks was headed home by Calvin Brooks to double the Terras lead.

Before half time both Marlon Jackson and Corey Evans for Yate and Reuben Reid for Weymouth went close to scoring and during the second half, despite Yate having more possession, apart from an effort on target by Corey Evans plus another from Lloyd James, and a shot that was just off target from Rex Mannings, Weymouth were in control for much of the second period and Matty Burrows did bring a good save from Sainsbury, whose smart stop prevented Weymouth from increasing their lead further.

Marlon Jackson worked tirelessly up front for the Bluebells but Yate Town will need to return to their mid-season form if they are going to avoid returning to the Southern League Division One South next season, with just seven games to go.

Home games on Tuesday against Poole Town and next Saturday, against Hanwell Town will be pivotal games.
