In a game of two halves, both teams had to settle for a point but Wimborne will be disappointed that they didn’t gain all three after a dominant first half performance.
Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, made a couple of changes following the mid-week game at Farnham Town, starting with Archie Taylor in place of Lloyd James and James Ollis in place of Rex Mannings.
Wimborne took the lead after just 4 minutes when following a long throw from Owen Roundell-Prince, the ball fell to Ajani Burchall, whose shot from 10 yards found the back of the net. James Ollis had a good chance to equalise three minutes later but after breaking free, his poor touch allowed goalkeeper, Oscar Abbotson, to beat him to the ball.
Following a Yate Town corner in the 18th minute, Wimborne gained possession and broke quickly but a superb tackle by Omar Taylor-Clarke, on Lewis Williams, averted the danger.

Lewis Williams saw his shot turned onto the base of a post by Yate goalkeeper Aaron Sainsbury and with Wimborne in control Will Fletcher, Josh Carmichael and Owen Roundell-Price went close and Cam Munn forced Sainsbury into a full length save before half-time.
The second half started with Yate defender Archie Taylor forcing a good save from Abbotson and Dan Ball headed just wide from Rex Mannings free-kick as Yate Town looked for an equaliser. Henry Sady went on a fine run but his cross was cleared but with 15 minutes remaining, Rex Mannings’ excellent first time cross eventually found Alex Monks, who drove the ball across Oscar Abbotson to find the far corner of the net to equalise.

Will Fletcher had a goal disallowed for offside seven minutes from time for Wimborne but in the end, this was a fair result as Wimborne head to mid-table safety and Yate have it all to do to stay up with 9 games remaining.
