Yate Town 2 Bideford AFC 0 Jenkins 69, Nderemani 84 FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round
Yate Town eventually overcame a stubborn and well drilled Bideford defence with two goals in the final 20 minutes to win this FA Trophy tie and progress to the next round.
Yate manager, Darren Mullings, was forced into a change with James Taylor having not recovered from an injury sustained at Bemerton on Wednesday evening, bringing in James Byrne to take his place.
Yate Town started brightly with Lewis Hall bringing a fine save from Bideford goalkeeper Mike Searle early on and as the rain started to pour down a great move down the right involving Will Christopher, Marlon Jackson and Lucas Tomlinson saw them keep possession within the Bideford penalty area but eventually a shot was blocked and the danger averted for the visiting defence. Marlon Jackson then had a shot well saved by Searle, another effort from him went just wide and shortly afterwards Lucas Tomlinson saw his low shot well saved by Searle.

Marlon Jackson goes close in the first half.
Bideford seemed to have weathered the early pressure and as the sun came out a cross from Finn Roberts saw Ryan Turner’s header directed straight at Aaron Sainsbury in the home goal.
Stan Wyatt fired over from distance but apart from a penalty appeal four minutes from half-time, when Lucas Tomlinson appeared to be brought down in the penalty area, Bideford were quite content to sit back and deny the Yate forward’s space but did manage a breakaway when Finn Roberts extended Aaron Sainsbury just before half-time as he diving down to his left to save the cross shot.
Early in the second half an excellent cross from Stan Wyatt saw Marlon Jackson sliding in at the far post but the ball just evaded him. Wayne Nderemani came on for Dan Dempsey after 51 minutes and Oli Jenkins came on for Stan Wyatt on the hour and these changes started to make an impact. With Joe Guest and Lloyd James now pulling the strings in midfield Yate started to find pockets of space and after 69 minutes the breakthrough came when Marlon Jackson won the ball just inside his own half and fed Wayne Nderemani on the left and his cross was met by Oli Jenkins who fired home from 10 yards to give the Bluebells the lead.
The Bideford defenders started to make some strong challenges and the referee was forced to show some yellow cards as Yate Town looked for a second goal to secure the tie with Ryan Hillier taking the place of the injured Marlon Jackson. Joe Guest tested Searle with a 20-yard shot and substitute, Ross Staley, found himself clear after an excellent through ball spit the visitors defence but he hesitated and Searle blocked his shot.

Ross Staley’s shot is saved by Bideford goalkeeper Mike Searle.
But it was not long before the second goal arrived with Ryan Hillier playing a defence splitting ball through to Wayne Nderemani who coolly slotted the ball past Searle to score his first goal for the club and ensue that Yate Town were in the hat for Monday’s draw.

Wayne Nderemani scores Yate Town’s second goal.
Yate Town again came up against a packed defence and had to be composed and patient before finding the breakthrough. The Bluebells are at home again on Tuesday evening when Larkhall Athletic are the visitors for a Southern League fixture.
