Ollis (12, 66)

Southern League Premier Division South

Saturday 24th January 2026

Yate Town secured their fifth home league win of the season, with a brace from James Ollis, in a game where both teams worked hard to overcome the wet conditions, especially in the second half.

Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, made a couple of changes from the side that drew at second placed Poole Town last Saturday, with Charlie Moody and Rex Mannings both starting in place of the injured Josh Bennett and Omar Taylor-Clarke, who was on the bench.

A clever backheel by Uxbridge’s Nnamdi Nwachaku in the first minute went straight at Aaron Sainsbury in the home goal but it was Yate Town who took the lead after 12 minutes when following a corner from Lloyd James the ball fell to James Ollis who scored from close range.

Marlon Jackson is just beaten to the ball by Uxbridge goalkeeper Marco Underwood in the first half.

There were few chances created in the first half; however, George Moore went close for the visitors when his long-range effort went just wide of the goal and Ollis was closed down after a mazy run.

After a mazy run, James Ollis closes in on goal but is eventually driven wide and the chance is gone.

Yate started the second half on the front foot and Charlie Moody had a glorious chance to extend the lead for Yate but he dragged his low shot wide of the post when well-placed 12 yards from goal, following a good pass from James Ollis.

Marlon Jackson forced Uxbridge goalkeeper Marco Underwood into a good save and Underwood was forced into action again when Lloyd James forced him to turn a shot wide of the post.

The Bluebells struck again after 66 minutes when a free kick from Lloyd James was flicked on by Marlon Jackson and James Ollis was there at the far post to slot the ball home.

The ball nestles in the net after James Ollis scores his second goal.

Aaron Sainsbury was forced into a couple of good saves from a curling shot from George Moore and a header from Adanioritsewo Okorogheye and at the other end, Marco Underwood saved well again from Lloyd James and Alex Monks skimmed the Uxbridge cross bar with his 20-yard shot.

This was a deserved win for the Bluebells, as they achieved their second double of the season, having won 3-1 at Uxbridge back in November.

Yate Town now travel to Farnham Town on Tuesday evening and are on their travels again next Saturday, to Berkhamsted.
