Yate Town 2 Plymouth Parkway 1

Jackson (pen) 36, Jenkins 90 | Nyadzayo 49

Southern League Premier Division South

Saturday 27th September 2025

Yate Town secured all three points with a late goal from Oli Jenkins to deny Plymouth Parkway a point and move the Bluebells out of the bottom four.

Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, made a number of changes following the defeat at Basingstoke in mid-week, bringing in Dan Ball for his first start since the opening game of the season, for Dan Dempsey, and welcomed back captain Joe Guest, in place of Matt Britton. He gave new signing Aaron Evans-Harriott his first start in place of the unwell Omar Taylor-Clarke and the returning Oli Jenkins took the place of Lucas Tomlinson. Marlon Jackson started in place of Chris Zebroski.

Before the game started a minute’s silence was held in memory of Billy Vigar, the Chichester City player, who passed away in the week, after colliding with a concrete wall at Wingate & Finchley last Saturday.

The first chance of the game fell to the visitors when a Tyler Love-Homles header, from an early corner, went straight into the arms of Yate Town goalkeeper Aaron Sainsbury. James Taylor had a couple of early efforts on goal with one shot being blocked and the other when he fired just over from 25 yards.

Plymouth Parkway had a great chance to take the lead, after 17 minutes, when Taylor Love-Holmes took advantage of some confusion in the home defence but shot over when well placed.

Shortly afterwards, Will Larvin drove at the Plymouth Parkway defence and his fierce shot went straight at Plymouth Parkway goalkeeper, Mack Allan.

Yate Town went in front when Jack Veale was adjudged to have fouled Rex Mannings and Marlon Jackson slotted home the penalty after 36 minutes.

Marlon Jackson scores from the penalty spot to put the Bluebells 1-0 up.

In first half stoppage time Plymouth Parkway won a free kick 25 yards from the home goal, however, Rio Garside’s shot went straight into the arms of Aaron Sainsbury.

The second half was only four minutes old when a right-wing cross from James Watts-Barciela was headed firmly past Aaron Sainsbury by Cruis Nyadzayo to level the scores. Plymouth Parkway then started to take control of the game but apart from a header from Watts-Barciela, that was just off target, did not really trouble the Yate defence.

Following a number of substitutions late on, Yate started to create chances. Marlon Jackon volleyed wide when well-placed and Joe Guest’s header was cleared off the line by Andrew Neale before a Corey Evans corner was headed home from close range by Oli Jenkins.

Oli Jenkins, surrounded by Plymouth Parkway defenders, heads the winner.

Yate Town then had a golden opportunity to add another when substitute Lucas Tomlinson broke clear of the Plymouth Parkway defence but when he was just about to shoot a defender got back in time to block his effort

This was an important and encouraging win for the Bluebells, who remain unbeaten at home in the league this season, as they now look forward to an FA Trophy game against fellow Southern League Premier Division opponents, Poole Town, at the South West Interiors Stadium next Saturday.
