DYLAN LEWIS IN ACTION

Yate Town produced a wonderful away performance, dominating much of the match, keeping a clean sheet and scoring three times at critical moments in the game – and what a contrast it was from seven days earlier. Yate manager Darren Mullings brought in new signing, defender Kyle Anderson, to the starting line-up and moved midfielder Dan Dempsey to left back with Lewis Hall out injured. Dylan Lewis was fit again to play on the left whilst Joe Cattermole was included for the first time this season.

After an evenly contested opening few minutes in which Aaron Sainsbury saved well from Hendy, it was Hendy’s foul on Dylan Lewis on the edge of the Melksham penalty area a few minutes later that led to the first goal after 16 minutes. From the resultant free kick from 20 yards, taken by Lewis, the ball took a deflection off a home defender and with Manning-Butler wrong footed ended up in the back of the net.

DYLANS LEWIS GOAL DEFLECTED SHOT

This was just the stroke of fortune that Yate needed to help build their confidence and they then went on to play some excellent passing and penetrating football. A Hutton header was just wide from a Lewis cross and Will Larvin’s shot went inches past the post. At the other end Sainsbury saved Graham’s header but Yate finished the half strongly with Lewis, in fine form, beating a couple of defenders before his shot went just wide of the far post.

DYLAN LEWIS SHOOTS JUST WIDE

The second half started with Yate scoring a fine goal almost immediately. Following good work on the right by Oputeri to gain possession, Hillier and Hutton combined for Hutton to fire in his first goal for the club from six yards. This was Hutton’s first goal in senior football and he and the team celebrated in style.

Aaron Sainsbury made a fine save five minutes later tipping a header over the bar but much as Melksham looked to respond they were restricted to long range efforts that never troubled Aaron Sainsbury. With four minutes of normal time Dan Dempsey, who had played exceptionally well in his new defensive role, picked up the ball on the left and decided to let fly from 30 yards with a rocket shot that flew into the top corner leaving Manning Butler beaten in the home goal.
