Yate Town can confirm the signing of striker Olly Mehew, who was previously with the Bluebells when Paul Michael was manager at Yate Town. Olly departed in the summer of 2022 to join Merthyr Town, where Paul Micheal had become manager, after two successful seasons, at the South West Interiors Stadium. Olly Mehew is the 28-year-old son of former Bristol Rovers player and manager David Mehew, and was a former Blackburn Rovers scholar who signed his first pro deal with Forest Green Rovers in 2016.
He has also played for Taunton Town, Swindon Supermarine, who he joined in June 2024 before joining Melksham Town in June 2025
Yate Town assistant manager, Paul Tovey, commented on the signing,” A change of manager at his previous club, Melksham Town, has given us the chance to get Olly on board and he will come into the squad as a replacement for the departed James Ollis. He played some of his best football in his previous spell at Yate Town, so we are hoping that he can hit the ground running and help us get back on the winning trail.”
