After the home game against Evesham United on Saturday 23rd November, Yate Town kit man, James Hicks (pictured below), had a real task on his hands to get the kit clean and ready for the next game.

Having washed the kit twice the kits were still far from clean as can be seen from the picture below. The ones on the left were worn by players for the whole game – the one on the right was worn by a late substitute and that came clean fairly easily BUT the others needed a good soak and more.

A very good soak and scrub was needed ……………………………………

As did the socks ……………………..

James commented, “The kit from last Saturday was the worst in my 2 years as kit man. So I turned to the internet for some hints and tips!! The shirts had 4 washes in total along with a good scrub and a soak in a bucket for 24 hours. My attention now turns to the socks, which is now soaking in a bucket of bicarbonate soda, oxy powder and white vinegar. All part of the job, but I am pleased the U18’s were called off this week and that we will be playing in our away kit this weekend!”
But come Thursday evening after much dedication and more, the results can be seen below.

A star performance from the Yate Town kitman!!!
Take a bow, Mr Hicks.
