Yate Town, after only conceding two goals in their previous three and a half games, saw their former defensive frailties return when they conceded four goals in the final 20 minutes of this game.
After a pitch inspection due to heavy rain during the week the game went ahead. Yate manager Darren Mullings made one change following last Saturday’s narrow defeat at Wimborne, fielding new signing, Oli Jenkins from Cribbs, with Chris Peck dropping to the bench.
Yate started brightly with Dylan Lewis bringing a fine save from Evesham goalkeeper Ben Taylor but nothing came from the resultant corner. The game settled down with both sides playing-controlled passing football and it was Yate who struck first after 32 minutes with Callum Hutton forcing the ball home from close range but three minutes later Evesham’s Amer Awadh set up Will Owens whose fierce cross shot took a deflection to draw the visitors level. Finley Bell then went close for the home side with Taylor again making a good save.

The second half saw Evesham have more possession than Yate but the game, played in heavy conditions, looked to be heading for a draw when on 70 minutes, following a corner on the left, found Owens in space and he scored his second with a powerful header past Aaron Sainsbury.

Yate failed to respond and Fred Willcox struck 8 minutes later to then put the game out of reach of the Bluebells. On 86 minutes following a foul by Sainsbury, Amer Awadh fired home the resultant penalty and then a defensive mix up led to Evesham substitute Ethan Moran scoring a simple fifth for the visitors, who also scored five at Bemerton a couple of weeks earlier. The travelling fans, who were in good voice, certainly enjoyed their day out!

Yate Town now look forward to a Friday night fixture (10th November) when Larkhall Athletic visit the South West Interiors Stadium, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
