Yate Town 2-1 Westbury United

Yate Town 2   Westbury United 1

Parsons 38    O’Loughlin 79        Demkiv 21

Southern League Division One South

Yate Town, with caretaker manager Darren Mullings in charge for the first time, following the departure of John Rendell, saw his side gain their first League win of the season in a game that saw half the outfield players booked in a game that could never be classed as “dirty”.

Westbury went ahead in the 21st minute when Aaron Parsons was harshly penalised for handball. Westbury’s Callum Demkiv had his penalty saved by Aaron Sainsbury but followed up to score from the rebound.

Aaron Sainsbury Penalty Save

Yate equalised in the 38th minute when Aaron Parsons headed home a right-wing cross for a deserved equaliser.

Westbury had a chance to go in front on 54 minutes but Demkiv blazed his penalty high over the bar.

The Bluebells then dominated large spells of the second half and played some excellent football keeping control of the ball with their passing generally accurate and on the floor – something that Darren Mullings has been working on during training.

Yate were rewarded when substitute Joe O’Loughlin fired home the winner, on 79 minutes, following a through ball from Will Sage.
