Yate Town make three statement signings

Joe Guest back home

Yate Town FC are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Joe Guest from Taunton Town. Yate Town manager, Darren Mullings, has been in discussions with Joe for a few weeks as the midfielder was keen to re-join Yate Town.

Guest was particularly impressed by the plans that Yate Town have and wanted to be part of the project as the club look to develop further both on and off the field. Many will know of Joe, with him being a local lad and will also remember his previously hugely successful stint at the Bluebells, helping us to promotion to the Southern League Premier.

Also joining from Taunton Town is a player that used to be a team mate of Darren Mullings at Chippenham Town. Striker Nick McCootie has vast experience having also played at Paulton Rovers, Bath City and Weston-super-Mare and has also been in discussions with Yate for a number of weeks as Darren Mullings has been looking to make the right type of signings for the Bluebells.

Yate Town are also pleased to announce that they have signed Truro City defender James Taylor on loan for the rest of the season. He can, however, be recalled back to Truro any time after 28 days

Taylor signed for Truro in September following his release by Bristol City. The right back came through Bristol City Academy and had loan spells at both Bath City and Cheltenham Town.

James Taylor

Yate Town are thrilled to add these three players, all having been playing at a higher level, and they can now be part of Darren Mullings plans as his squad of players look to move away from the lower reaches of the Southern League Division One table and also as the Yate Town manager starts to plan for next season.

The support of the Yate Town fans has helped with these two signings and Darren Mullings would like to thank the individuals who have contributed to the Bluebells Budget Booster which he hopes will enable him to develop the squad further in the coming weeks. A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes to enable these signings to be made and Chairman, Mark Thorne commented, “It’s a proud moment as Chairman that we’re able to start to release details of some high-quality signings. Joe expressed his desire to come back to Yate Town, his home club, and can’t wait to start working with Darren and the rest of the squad and make an impact and help others around him and James will add some extra quality to the squad too. Nick is a quality striker and it’s a department we have been looking to strengthen for some time. Nick’s experience will only rub off and help develop the young attackers we already have signed on.”

Yate Town manager Darren Mullings said, ”I am very excited about Joe, Nick and James joining the club. We have been working extremely hard to get all three signings done and it’s great they are all finally over the line and are now Yate Town players. They will add experience, professionalism, a winning mentality and of course quality and their impact was clear for all to see during Wednesday’s training session. They will all be a big part of our development as a team and help us start moving in the right direction.

Both Joe and James are available for this weekend’s fixture against Malvern Town, whilst we will have to wait until Tuesday at home against Larkhall to see Nick in a Yate Town shirt due to serving a one match suspension.”
