Everyone connected with Yate Town F.C especially longer serving supporters, were greatly saddened to learn of the death of Christine Leslie, who died shortly after Christmas. Christine had undergone dialysis treatment for many years before finally losing her brave fight against kidney disease.
Christine was married to Terry, who was a stalwart member of our club, representing all three teams before becoming Physio and a valued member of the committee. Christine was an active member of the Ladies committee which proved invaluable in our efforts to move to Lodge Road, and as well as taking an active part in various social events, she would often serve refreshments for spectators from the original portacabin during our early seasons at Lodge Road
Christine, who was born in Leicester, had been married to Terry for over 58 years, had two children, Andrew and Jayne and three grandchildren, and was devoted to her family, who were a source of great comfort to her. Christine and Terry settled in the Isle of Lewis about twenty years ago after retiring and became popular members of the local community. Christine was a lovely lady who will sadly missed by all her friends and family.
Christine’s funeral took place at Garrabost Church of Scotland on Monday 8th January before her burial at Aignish cemetery.
