Yate Town had an excellent 2-1 win against Falmouth Town on Saturday but there was a lot going on before and after the game as well.
We have highlighted just 4 things:
1. Bucket collection for St Peter’s Hospice

At the Falmouth game the club presented a cheque for £578.99 to their charity of the season, St Peter’s Hospice, and a bucket collection was also held to raise more funds. The photograph shows commercial manager, Stewart Thomas making the presentation and our thanks to all those people who contributed to the collection.
Community Fundraising Officer, Megan Austin, from St Peter’s Hospice said, “The atmosphere around the stand was great; everyone was really complementary and friendly and of course it was a brilliant result. Thank you so much for all the generous donations which will make a real difference in our work supporting patients and their families and we look forward to visiting Yate Town again for our final bucket collection on 26th April for the game against Didcot Town. We will let you know the amount raised in the next few days”.
2. More Groundhoppers visit Yate Town FC

At the home game against Bideford AFC, the club welcomed 2 Groundhoppers from Watford, and on Saturday we met 2 more Groundhoppers, who are both Cardiff City fans, choosing to visit Yate Town’s game against Falmouth Town.
The photograph above shows them with Joe Thomas, who is on loan from the Championship side in Wales. Tom and Ryeen, both 32, commented “Thank you for welcoming us to your ground today. We can’t fault it and you have got a brilliant set up.”
The South West Interiors Stadium is the 102nd ground that Tom has visited whilst Ryeen has visited 55 grounds. They have both been season ticket holders at Cardiff for a number of seasons and it would be good to see them again this season to support our loanee goalkeeper from Cardiff City.
3. Our match sponsors

Match sponsors FMConstruction Limited with Man of the Match Wayne Nderamani after the game against Falmouth Town.
The sponsors commented, “Thanks again for your efforts on Saturday we had a great day. One of the lads who came with us in a quantity surveyor for Stonewood builders and he also follows Yate Town. He was also impressed and will be looking at bringing in some of his contractors into sponsoring games next season”.
4. Our mascot

Will Holmes, from Thatchers Cider brought his son Arlo and his own father to the game and Arlo enjoyed his afternoon - as he led out the teams out (pictured above) and the family also enjoyed some time in the dressing room before the game and the celebrations at the end.
Will commented, ”Thank you to you, and the whole team for showing us such a great time and looking after us so well yesterday. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming and for sure we will be down again soon. It was a memorable day for Arlo. Please pass on my thanks to the team and captain Joe Guest for looking after him as the teams walked out.”
