Mark Thorne completes his walking marathon

Mark after his walking marathon

Following a 7am start this morning Mark Thorne, the Chairman of Yate Town Football Club, completed his walking marathon around the pitch at the South West Interiors Stadium in aid of the Great Western Air Ambulance and the Bluebells Boost the Budget – half of the amount raised going to each.

In warm but dry conditions Mark completed the 26 miles and 365 yards walk in 8 hours supported by family, friends and committee members of Yate Town FC who took it in turns to walk round the pitch with him. The photographs show Mark during and after the walk plus a brief interview, after his walk, can also be listened to.

So far over £850 has been raised via his GoFundMe page – plus additional collections at the ground. The GoFundMe page will stay open until Monday 9th October and a cheque will be presented to the Great Western Air Ambulance, for half the amount raised, at Yate Town’s next home game, against Exmouth Town, on Saturday 21st October.
