Yate Town look to continue their winning start to the 2026/27 Southern League Premier South season Tuesday, August 11th, as they travel to Hardenhuish Park, the home of Chippenham Town (7:45pm).
After a winning start to the season, with a 1-0 Win Vs Gosport Borough, Darren Mullings’ Men make the trip to Wiltshire looking to get three points in their first away game of the season.
THE OPPOSITION
Chippenham Town arrive for the visit of Yate Town looking to bounce back from a difficult season following their relegation from the Enterprise National League South at the end of last season.
The Bluebirds’ eight-year stay in the National League South came to an end last term, with the club now returning to Step Three for the first time since 2017. Despite the drop, there has been continuity in the dugout, with Gary Horgan remaining in charge as Chippenham look to make an immediate push for a return to the EnterpriseNational League South.
There have been additions to the Chippenham squad over the summer as Horgan looks to strengthen his side ahead of their first season back in the Southern League. Among the new arrivals are Martell Taylor-Crossdale, Marley Rose and Ben Richards-Everton, as the Bluebirds begin the rebuilding process following relegation.
Chippenham's opening competitive fixture of the new campaign ended in defeat, as they were beaten 2-0 away from home by Uxbridge. The result means Horgan's side will be looking to get their first points on the board when Yate Town make the trip.
With the two sides now competing in the same division, Tuesday's fixture provides the Bluebirds with an early opportunity to respond to their opening-day disappointment, while Yate will be hoping to make the most of their first meeting with their newly relegated opponents.
RECENT MEETINGS
The two sides last met in pre-season in July 2023, with Chippenham Town edging a 1-0 victory at Lodge Road, Otis Lewis scoring the only goal of the game.
Before that, the clubs met competitively in the FA Cup in August 2013, with Yate Town coming out on top in a five-goal thriller, winning 3-2.
The sides also have a longer history of competitive meetings, including a 2-0 Chippenham victory during the 2000/01 campaign.
