The Bluebells travel to Surrey for their first ever visit to Farnham Town, who have had back-to-back promotions and are certainly finding their feet at this level. With both sides having gained promotion last season, Farnham are looking for a third successive promotion. This will be the first time that the teams have met this season, with this game originally scheduled for the end of November, when it was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Form guide
Season 2023/24 saw Farnham promoted from the Combined Counties Premier Division South into Step 4 for the first time in our history, setting a British football record of 25 consecutive wins to start a league season en route to an invincible league campaign, while also embarking on club-record runs in the FA Cup and FA Vase. Last season, despite entering unchartered territory at Step 4 level, the Club continued to build their momentum to cruise to the title in the Isthmian South-Central Division, winning the league by 20 points and eclipsing 100 points in back-to-back campaigns – earning promotion to Step 3 and the Southern League Premier South, playing in Step 3 for the first time in their history.
They currently sit in 4th place in the table, having only lost 4 of their 24 league games, having drawn 7 and won 13; scoring 61 goals and conceding 34 times. Farnham have scored the most goals in the division, one more than leaders Walton & Hersham.
On Saturday, their league game at Plymouth Parkway was called off and in the 8 games that Farnham have played since the start of December, they have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 2.
Their previous game saw them win 7-2 at Hungerford on 20th January and other wins in this period, all at home have seen wins against Plymouth Parkway (4-0), Gosport (2-0) and Tiverton (5-0) plus a 1-1 draw at home to Evesham in their last home game. Away from home, in this period they were 3-1 up at Havant & Waterlooville after an hour but Havant came back to win 4-3 and the game at Berkhamsted saw the hosts 3-0 up before three late goals earned Farnham a point.
In the FA Cup Farnham were knocked out in a replay by National League side Sutton United in the Fourth Qualifying Round. After drawing 3-3 at home, they lost 2-3 after extra time. In the FA Trophy they were knocked out a couple of weeks ago by National League South side Horsham.
One to watch out for is the vastly experienced Bobby-Jo Taylor (30), who joined the club in the summer from Dorking, and they made signings before Christmas with Michael Eacott, a goalkeeper, joining from Bracknell, midfield player Beaux Booth from Sholing FC and centre back Dan Bayliss from Chesham United.
