Yate Town eased into the next round of the Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup in a game that saw young Bristol City goalkeeper, Isaac Finch, who was on loan at Yate Town last season, taken to hospital with an injury meaning that there were 17 minutes added to the first half, in stoppage time.
Bristol City struck first, following a defected shot that hit the post, Victor Akinbo reacted quickly and his low drive found the bottom corner of the net.
Yate Town equalised just before the half hour mark when Corey Evans shot home and well into first half stoppage time Lucas Tomlinson went close to adding to the lead.
The second half was only a minute old when Bristol City centre half, Jack Hooper deflected a cross from Aaron Evand-Harriott into his own goal and seven minutes later Lucas Tomlinson added a third for Yate Town, scoring with a left footed shot into the bottom corner.
With Yate Town Under 18 player, Jacob Batt, performing well, Yate Town manager brought on two other Yate Town Youth players in Tyler Wood and Anthony Batt and Batt hit the crossbar following a cross from Lucas Tomlisnon with ten minutes of the game remaining.
Yate Town will play Bristol Manor Farm at home in the next round on a date to be arranged.
