After many years running the Yate Town FC website, Seb Parker, is standing down as he and his wife start a new chapter in their lives with an addition on the way early next season. Seb has worked tirelessly over the years and at the player presentation evening last month won the WA Febry Rose bowl, which was presented to him by Chairman Mark Thorne, as recognition for his services to the club.

Seb commented, “After 14 incredible years with Yate Town media team, the time has come for me to step away. I would like to thank everyone who has supported and engaged with our content over the years. Your support has always been hugely appreciated and has made the role rewarding. Looking back, I have been fortunate enough to witness so many memorable moments with Yate Town – promotion through the play-offs, the disappointment of relegation, two fantastic FA Cup runs to the First Round Proper and of course the championship-winning campaign. It’s been an incredible journey and privilege to help document these moments for the club and its supporters.
A massive thank you goes to everyone at Yate Town, with special mention to Mark, Bob and the gaffer, Darren, for their support, friendship and commitment throughout my time at the club.
I wish everyone connected with Yate Town all the very best for the future and hope the club goes from strength to strength. Thank you for the memories. Up the Bluebells!”
Also departing is Bob Chester, who joined the club three years ago following a conversation with Chairman Mark Thorne, and was impressed with the project discussed. Bob has managed to develop and promote a number of areas within the club over this time, and significant progress has been made. Bob spent a lot of time over his decision and said, “It has been a great pleasure and privilege to work with Chairman Mark Thorne, Seb and manager Darren Mullings plus a big thank you to the players for their support with interviews etc. I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey over the last three years and being involved in all that has been achieved by everyone at the club. It has also been something special supporting the students linked with the club to help them on their journeys and I must also make a special mention to Aaron Norman and Jack Palmer for all their support too and their wonderful photographs….. and to other people, too many to mention by name. It is with sadness I am standing down but at my stage in life I feel that the time is right. I wish everyone success in the future and look forward to seeing further progress being made at the club.”
Seb and Bob will continue to support the club and hope to see as many games as possible next season.
Harry Howarth, the club’s sports analyst, will be taking over the social media and will be recruiting a team to build on the work already done by Bob and Seb.
Yate Town Chairman, Mark Thorne added,” The news about Seb and Bob standing down from their respective roles is one I have been aware of for a while. I fully respect and understand the reasons for making their decisions. Media / social media is such an important part of any club / organisation looking to expanding and gain involvement from the local community. Seb has worked tirelessly over the many years I have known him. We have had a very special relationship working on raising followers on all the club’s social media platforms. I can confirm it’s a relentless and very time-consuming role, and Seb has filled this position giving everything. Bob arrived at the club and has been a massive influence on me, spending many hours over coffee helping me guide the club over the last 3 years. His knowledge and professionalism will be a massive loss not just to me but the club. I look forward to supporting Harry and the new team being assembled. I know Seb and Bob will always have a soft spot for Yate Town FC and will always be welcome at any match they wish to attend. Thank you Seb and Bob - it’s been a great time working with you.”
