My Club, My Shirt

The Southern Football League will be participating in its very first My Club, My Shirt campaign this month which aims to promote equality and inclusivity at our clubs. Our volunteers and supporters are the lifeblood of our clubs, and we know that you all do a remarkable job in making your clubs inclusive environments that allows anyone and everyone the opportunity to enjoy football. This campaign is a simple one! We believe that visual representation is a powerful tool in bringing people together and that football is the perfect conduit to making that happen. Fusing football and photography together, promotes equality in the most picturesque way. We would like each club to reach out to their volunteers and supporters and find one or more representatives who are willing to share a photo of themselves in their club shirt. As this is an equality campaign, we want the imagery to show that regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation that your club is welcoming, inclusive and a place for absolutely everyone.

So, please can Bluebell fans send us a photograph of you in a club shirt, with your name and a comment about why you feel proud to wear the shirt you have on. We would need these photographs before Christmas please. Please send to: accounts@yatetownfc.co.uk

A couple of examples are below:

The photograph, as an example, shows Jordan Herbert-Smith and his quote was, “Even on holiday in Benidorm, still supporting Yate Town FC.”

Sean Dacey - Volunteer

“I'm proud to support Yate Town as it’s been a huge part of my life. This is my 29th season. I was just a troublesome teen when it all started. By my second season I was offered roles at the club. Selling programmes, writing match reports and bringing in and laying out kit for manager Ian Alexander. Being so close to the squad and people behind the scenes gave me something pro football never could. Jocky, Bob Chester and Terry Tansley are the people that stand out giving me the chance others wouldn't. I owe them a lot as it focused me on something positive. I'm now a full-time volunteer, doing various roles. Giving back to this great club is something I hope I can do for years to come. Up the Bluebells”.
