Yate Town FC U18s – End of Season Update

Well, what a few weeks it’s been for our youth development teams at Yate Town.

It’s been a gargantuan effort from the lads this season. Many having started their WCL journey a year early and playing up an age group, they more than held their own in 2024/25 with a very respectable finish. This season, they’ve taken it to another level — reaching the semi-finals of both the GFA Cup and League Cup, narrowly missing out on finals, but showing real quality and resilience throughout.

There was no sign of the boys taking their foot off the gas in the league either, following up last week’s emphatic 6-0 win in their final home game against Brislington with a 3-0 victory away to Cribbs to seal the title in style.

As the season draws to a close, we hope the lads enjoy a well-earned summer break before returning refreshed and ready to take on the Premier Division next season.

We also say farewell to a few players who move on due to age. We would like to thank Jacob Batt, Nathan Angbatta, and Frolan Lopez for their efforts and commitment at Yate Town. We wish them every success in what promise to be bright footballing futures.

The success on the pitch doesn’t stop there.

Our Bristol Combination League White squad have secured a place in the final of the BCL Cup (plate competition) which will be played at the Southwest Interiors Stadium. Yate Town Whites will face Whitchurch Sports Juniors on Sunday 10th May (11:30am kick-off). It would be fantastic to see as many Bluebells supporters as possible at the ground to get behind the lads as they push for what could be more silverware this season.

It’s not all positive news, however, as we say goodbye to Yate Town Blues manager Ant Miles (pictured below). Ant has been instrumental in the creation and development of the U18s setup at the club. Due to increasing coaching and personal commitments, he has made the difficult decision to step down from his role. He leaves with our sincere thanks and appreciation for everything he has contributed. Ant, you will always be welcome at Yate Town, and we hope to see you back at the club in the future.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our second-year BCL players for their commitment and dedication over the past couple of seasons. We wish them every success for the future — a future we firmly believe will be extremely bright.

As a club, we’re delighted to announce that we have joined forces with our friends at Iron Acton to provide a continued pathway for the lads, strengthening our community links and creating further opportunities for local players to continue their football journey.

A huge well done to everyone involved with the U18s programme — players, coaches, and supporters. The future is bright.
