Chertsey fan Jake cycles to every away game

A special person in the crowd at the South West Interiors Stadium, the home of Yate Town FC, on Saturday, was Chertsey Town fan Jake Warner, who has taken up the challenge to cycle to every away game this season to raise money for a Chromes disease charity, in support of his father and the other people effected.

Jack had 107 miles to cycle to the game but did 105 of them on Friday, staying in Chipping Sodbury overnight and cycled the last two miles on Saturday – the reason he looked so fresh at the game – and was getting a lift back to Chertsey with his bike in the car!

The first away game of their season saw Chertsey Town travel to Tiverton Town, one of the longest rides of the season, but a 2-0 win there will have helped the fan of The Curfews.

Jack said that he wasn’t looking forward to the journey down to Plymouth Parkway in February, his longest one of the season, but the one to local rivals Walton & Hersham, the shortest one, was only about 8 miles and would be much easier.

Jack was happy to be interviewed on the pitch at half-time and all Yate Town fans wish him the very best on his challenge over the coming months.

Jack has set up a GoFundMe page and if you would like to donate, please go to the link https://www.justgiving.com/page/tourdecurfew
