Match Report | Hanworth Villa 2-3 Yate Town

10-man Bluebells score late on to secure first away win of the season. With goals coming from marcus day, marlon jackson and alex monks.

Yate took the lead inside the opening five minutes through Marcus Day. Following a long ball forward Marlon Jackson flicked it onto Rex Mannings who then played it across goal for Day to fire home, level with the penalty spot.

Just over 10 minutes into the first half, the hosts had their first chance of the game. Barney cut inside from the left and fired a right footed effort from outside of the area towards goal, with Sainsbury doing well to tip it behind for a corner, which was cleared.

Just over halfway through the first-half The Villains would come forward again. The hosts delivered a cross from the right towards the far post for Nutbeam who could only find the side netting from close range.

Just before the half hour mark, the Bluebells would extend their lead through Marlon Jackson. Following neat buildup play on the edge of the area the ball would be played to Sam Morcom who cut it back from the byline into the six yard box for Jackson to tap home from close range, with the hosts conceding two at home in a game for the first time this season.

Minutes later Hanworth would halve the deficit. McGregor got onto the end of a ball in behind and raced through on goal and placed his effort past Sainsbury.

Moments before half-time Yate would come forward again, looking to reinstate their two goal lead. Morcom delivered a corner towards the near post with Archie Taylor meeting it but he couldn’t find the target with his effort.

Half-time | Hanworth Villa 1-2 Yate Town

10 minutes into the second half Yate would go down to 10 men. Taylor picked up a second yellow card following a late challenge, meaning the Bluebells would have to play 35 minutes with 10 men.

On 64 minutes Villa would find a leveller. Barzey worked himself into a shooting opportunity just inside the area and fired into the far corner.

With just under 10 minutes to go Town would come forward after defending well for a period of the game, with a man less. Substitute Joe Parker cut inside from the left and looked to bend a curling effort into the far corner, but unfortunately his effort went just wide of the post.

Five minutes from time Yate would have another opportunity this time from a corner. Mannings delivered the corner towards the far post with Duffus meeting it but unfortunately he couldn’t direct his effort on target.

Two minutes from additional time, the Bluebells would reinstate their lead. Day looked to deliver a cross into the area which took a deflection and fell to Alex Monks who fired home a first time effort from range, past the diving Dickinson.

Monks’ goal two minutes from time ended up being the difference maker as Yate Town came away with their first away win of the season against an in-form Hanworth Villa side.
