Match Report | Yate Town 0-0 Chippenham Town

Yate Town held to a goalless draw and replay against Chippenham Town.

The visitors had the first chance of the game as Piotr Petrynski cut it back for Henry Sady on the edge of the area, but his tame effort was claimed comfortably by Aaron Sainsbury.

Yate then began to grow into the game and pinned the visitors in their own half for most of the first half.

Inside 15 minutes Archie Taylor played a long diagonal pass forward up towards Marlon Jackson, with the latter flicking it on. Eventually it ended up with Marcus Day who shifted inside and fired at goal but just narrowly saw his effort go over.

Just under 20 minutes into the game the hosts would have the best chance of the first half. Following a long ball forward, Mannings brought it down and threaded the needle as he played a pass in behind for Day who saw his effort saved.

The Bluebells continued to probe away at the visitors who struggled to keep a hold of the ball during the first 45 but, the hosts were just unable to create any real clear-cut chances to try and turn the scoreline in their favour.

Midfielder Sam Hendy came close to just over half an hour into the game. Following a corner, it fell to the number seven who struck a first time effort on the bounce which ended up going narrowly past the post.

Towards the end of the first period Day was brought down inside shooting range with the offender Kevin Williams picking up a yellow card for his challenge. Unfortunately, the latter picked up an injury from the challenge and was unable to continue, we wish him a speedy recovery. From the resulting free-kick it was Day who stepped up. He fired an effort through the Chippenham wall looking to test Jack Witchard between the sticks, unfortunately his effort was saved.

Half-time Yate Town 0-0 Chippenham Town

Yate made one change at the break which saw Tyrone Duffus make way for Will Larvin for the second half.

Midway through the second half the Bluebells would have the best chance of the half once again.

Day unleashed a thunderous effort from range which ultimately crashed off of the bar, meaning it was still goalless with 25 minutes left to play.

10 minutes from the end Yate would come forward again. The ball fell to Hendy outside of the area, which he struck first time but saw his effort go wide.

With the last kick of the game, Yate had a chance to book their place in the next round of the FA Cup. Sam Morcom delivered an inviting corner in towards the near post, and following some pinball action inside the six-yard box it was Taylor who got the last touch on it but he could only poke it wide.
